Lourmarin: We meet in one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”, recount its history and cross its picturesque streets on our way to Lourmarin’s famous chateau. We will visit a castle from the 12th century, including its foundation from the Middle Ages. We continue to the luxurious rooms from the Renaissance exhibiting furniture and objects that are hundreds of years old. And finally we pay our tribute to Albert Camus who is buried in Lourmarin.
Ménerbes: The village of Ménerbes and its citadels were a large battle site during the famous “Siege of Ménerbes”, which lasted five years during the French religious wars. One of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”, we enjoy 360 degree views available to us from the village, its beautiful stone houses, and artist galleries. We will visit the famous wine and truffle house, and from the other side we will enjoy a café with a breathtaking view to the snowy Mount Ventoux.
Oppède le Vieux: The village adjoining the northern slope of the Luberon occupies an unusual site. Built on a rocky outcrop with three faces plunging down, Oppede le Vieux keeps her secrets well hidden in the woods. Among the remains of the fortifications, the abandoned temples and the houses that collapsed, is a Romanesque church, the only structure still perfectly preserved. Next to it, a tower and a crumbling wall form the ruins of the medieval castle that once belonged to the Counts of Toulouse and later to the Popes of Avignon.
